I’m currently in my 4th semester at Berklee, after completing 49 credits in semester 1. I’m taking 12 classes this term, looking forward to getting deeper into improvisation with Kenny Werner, and taking production, groove writing and arranging classes, among others. Those are my favorites. Here’s a video of me completely improvising a classical piece in one of the Berklee practice rooms on campus.
I’m pleased to be taking private lessons with JoAnne Brackeen, who played in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers. Her resume is extensive. She’s considered one of the top jazz pianists in the world, has composed hundreds of tunes, and has played with many jazz greats. She’s 78 years old, a professor at Berklee College of Music.
