Received an Award

The Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition chooses among outstanding musicians within the combined classical, contemporary and jazz categories. Only up to one winner is chosen from each instrument, and there may be no winner chosen, if the appropriate standards are not achieved.

The winner of the piano competition is a graduate student and classical pianist at the Juilliard School.

Although I’m only a second year student at Berklee and it’s my first time entering the US-wide competition, I received an Honorable Mention – a great honor. Not bad for a jazz musician!

Four students from Berklee College of Music are winners this year.

“… it is important for you to know that the judges elected to give you the designation of HONORABLE MENTION, an honor reserved for only a few applicants.”
