Met Jamie Aebersold and He Gave Me a Quarter

Dr. Lou Fischer Co-Founder of JEN, and the man who funded the scholarship I received, decided to introduce me to Jamey Aebersold, whom I had already met the day before. Jamey reaches into his pocket and says, “Hey. I got something for ya.” And he gave me this quarter. That’s Duke Ellington’s portrait and his name on the piano.

JEN2015 was mind-expanding and fun. Took a pic with Wayne Bergeron who said to me “Hold that award up!”,  played with Poncho Sanchez, met Gordon Goodwin, David Baker and many, many others.

Me with some famous jazz guys: Jamey Aebersold, Michael Mossman, Ignacio Berroa, Herbie Hancock, Peter Erskine at JEN2015

At Starbucks with Herbie Hancock. We’re both there for JEN 2015. I’m receiving the Lou Fischer Co-Founder Award, as the only high school jazz student in the country and he’s the keynote speaker.
